Job Title: Platform Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL

Experience: 12+ Years

Key Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and enhance AWS infrastructure supporting Amazon SageMaker and ML services.

Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to provision and manage cloud resources.

Support development and automation of CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments and ML workflows.

Design and implement secure and scalable cloud architecture components following AWS best practices.

Monitor platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency, and troubleshoot infrastructure or deployment issues.

Collaborate closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers to improve platform capabilities and user experience.

Maintain documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-sharing materials for the platform.

Required Qualifications

Strong understanding of AWS core services, including:

Networking: VPC, subnets, routing, DNS, and security groups

Security: IAM roles, policies, encryption, secrets management, least-privilege access

Compute & Storage: EC2, ECS, S3

Serverless & Messaging: Lambda, SQS

Experience with Python development for scripting, automation, or Lambda services.

Hands-on experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.

Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.

Familiarity with Linux environments and shell scripting.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Amazon SageMaker or other ML platforms.

Basic understanding of machine learning workflows, including model training, inference, data pipelines, and model lifecycle management.

Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

Experience developing OIDC-integrated applications.
