Summary

Position Summary:
The Director, Software Engineering will lead a team of developers while driving the design and delivery of a next-generation, AI-enabled care platform. This individual will play a key role in shaping the architecture, implementing AI tools, and improving engineering productivity through intelligent automation. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise, especially in Golang and databases, with proven leadership experience and a passion for building scalable, high-impact systems in healthcare.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers.
•    Drive development of a greenfield, AI-powered care platform.
•    Architect and implement scalable backend systems using Golang.
•    Oversee database design, optimization, and management across SQL Server and Postgres.
•    Establish best practices for testing, code quality, and deployment.
•    Evaluate, test, and implement AI development tools (e.g., Claude, Codex) to enhance team productivity.
•    Guide the rollout and adoption of AI-assisted development workflows across the team.
•    Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and leadership teams to align technical direction with business goals.
•    Ensure solutions meet healthcare standards for reliability, scalability, and compliance with HIPAA and SOC2 standards.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
•    Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role with a focus on AI enabled platforms.
•    Proven experience managing engineering teams; people leadership is required.
•    Strong technical background in Golang (Go) development.
•    Deep understanding of database systems and data architecture, including SQL Server and Postgres.
•    Experience evaluating or working with AI tools in a development environment.
•    Strong foundation in software testing and quality assurance practices.
•    Ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities.
•    Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a dynamic, remote environment.
•    Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in alignment with departmental and industry demands.

Education/Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience
•    Proven track record leading and growing software engineering teams.
•    Demonstrable experience architecting and delivering complex, scalable systems.
•    Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Preferred Skill/Abilities:
•    Experience in healthcare or healthcare technology.
•    Understanding of the challenges of AI adoption in regulated environments.
•    Experience building or contributing to greenfield products.
•    Familiarity with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex)
•    Experience with server-side rendering approaches such as htmx or templ.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
•    Home-based office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and
•    occasional local and/or overnight travel, including exposure to heat, cold, and inclement weather.
•    conditions. Transportation for travel typically will include automobile and plane.
