Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid – Local Candidates Only)

Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and support large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Python, SQL, Kafka, Spark, AWS, and cloud data engineering with experience building scalable, event-driven data solutions.

Required Qualifications

4+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Application Engineering
Strong programming experience in Java, Python, and SQL
Experience building batch and real-time data pipelines
Hands-on experience with Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, EMR, or similar distributed data technologies
Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (AWS preferred)
Experience with cloud data warehouse platforms
Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or similar
Experience with CI/CD and Agile development environments
Knowledge of data observability, monitoring, alerting, SLA tracking, and data quality
Experience with Secrets Management (AWS Secrets Manager, Vault, etc.)
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Banking or Financial Services experience
Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments
Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming data platforms
Experience with enterprise-scale cloud data platforms

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines
Build scalable event-driven data solutions using Kafka and distributed processing technologies
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for enterprise data platforms
Collaborate with Agile teams to deliver end-to-end data engineering solutions
Implement workflow orchestration and pipeline automation
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines for performance and reliability
Ensure data quality, security, and compliance across data platforms
Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies
