Summary
Senior Cobol Developer
Work Location: Remote
Duration: 6+ Months (C2H) W2 Contract
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
- Manages the direction of other coding logic including code reviews
- Works independently on all tasks
- Design, develop and maintain custom applications or configuration of corporate application systems and services.
- Analyses and design application systems encompassing the development, modification and translation of user requirements.
- Plans, investigate, and propose systems and application solutions
- Prepare workflow for writing, testing and maintain in computer programs.
- Communicates effectively with product management, project management, and other stakeholders in preparation of application design specifications
- Encodes, tests, debugs and installs the operating program and procedures in coordination with Operations and Infrastructure and Departments.
- Correct, tests and document changes to existing programs.
- Conduct training and presentation to users and other stakeholders.
- Support existing applications.
- Leads small development teams on complex applications development efforts
TYPICAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Must have :
- Bachelor s Degree or Professional Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
- At least 5-7 years working experience as a software developer and/or designer.
- Programming Languages/Tools: COBOL, CICS, JCL, SQL, DB2
- Environment: IBM Mainframe using TSO / ISPF.
- Agile project management experience
Nice to have :
- Have Knowledge or Experience with MQ Series, EXCI, XML, SCLM, IBM Debug, MicroFocus Revolve, Tivoli
- Hands-on experience in object-oriented language/frameworks (Java, C# and or JEE, .NET), RDBMS (Microsoft SQL or Oracle), and Web technologies including HTML/JavaScript.
- Experience with one of the following Integrated Development Environment (IDE) RDz, Eclipse, or Ms Visual Studio.
- Advanced degree MBA or MS
- Self-motivated and interested in working closely with the business in support of transaction processing and financial services businesses.
- Keen to explore software development and support in a high volume transaction processing environment or business systems
