SAP ABAP S/4 HANA Technical Architect

Title: SAP Basis S/4HANA Technical Architect

Location: Long Beach, CA Remote with occasional travel (Preferred local or nearby local resource)

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead the end-to-end technical architecture for SAP ECC to S/4HANA migration.
• Assess and recommend appropriate migration approaches, including system conversion, selective migration and integration architecture across S/4 and enterprise platforms.
• Lead and interpret outputs from SAP Readiness Check, custom code impact analysis, and simplification item reviews.
• Guide and oversee custom code adaptation and technical remediation for S/4HANA compatibility.
• Develop and execute data archiving and data volume management strategies to reduce system footprint prior to migration.
• Collaborate closely with functional teams, SAP Basis, infrastructure, security, and external system integrators.
• Ensure system performance, stability, compliance, and data integrity throughout the migration lifecycle.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and best practices during sandbox, development, quality, and production phases.
• Support governance, risk management, and decision-making related to technical scope, sequencing, and dependencies.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to program leadership throughout the S/4HANA transformation by developing, reviewing, and approving key design deliverables (architecture diagrams, KDDs, technical design standards)

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience delivering SAP S/4HANA brownfield and/or landscape transformation projects.
• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Architect on ECC to S/4HANA migration initiatives.
• Deep understanding of S/4HANA technical architecture, including data model changes, simplification items, and compatibility scope
• Proven experience with system landscape transformation and phased migration approaches
• Experience with SAP Data Archiving
• Experience supporting ECC to S/4HANA system conversion or selective data migration approaches.
• Strong knowledge of custom code adaptation and remediation (SPAU/SPDD, ABAP Test Cockpit, Custom Code Migration tools)
• Deep experience designing and governing integration architecture between S/4HANA and enterprise platforms
• Experience aligning S/4 integration with platform-based / enterprise architecture
• Solid understanding of SAP Basis, system sizing, performance tuning, and overall landscape architecture.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
