Key Responsibilities
Data Testing & Validation: Design, execute, and document comprehensive test cases and validation scripts to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across data pipelines, ETL processes, and reports.
Data Extraction & Reporting: Write, optimize, and execute complex SQL queries against our data warehouse (in Teradata) to pull scheduled and ad-hoc operational and analytical reports.
Vendor Collaboration: Act as the primary technical point of contact for our data warehouse vendor, escalating performance bottlenecks, troubleshooting data loading issues, and tracking resolutions.
Reporting & Visualization: Translate business requirements into intuitive, actionable data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
Data Governance & Documentation: Maintain documentation of data definitions, reporting logic, testing procedures, and data warehouse schemas to ensure organization-wide transparency.
Preferred Experience: Working knowledge of state and federal Medicaid policy and regulatory reporting requirements preferred.
Qualifications & Requirements
Domain Knowledge: 5+ years of experience with Medicaid or Medicare. Prior experience working on federal or state legislative policy implementations (e.g., CMS rules, HR1 provisions, Medicaid expansion/unwinding efforts).
Technical Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Data Quality Analyst, or similar role with a heavy focus on data testing and SQL development.
Technical Expertise: Advanced SQL skills specifically within Teradata environments (including performance tuning, BTEQ, and Teradata SQL Assistant).
Testing & QA: Demonstrated experience writing test plans, performing data validation, and identifying data anomalies or discrepancies.
Collaboration: Experience working closely with third-party vendors, IT infrastructure teams, or database administrators to manage system updates and resolve issues.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Additional skills/experience should include:
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, with a demonstrated ability to prepare and present reports on complex concepts and findings to all levels of the organization.
* Strong quantitative analysis skills, including working knowledge of SAS, SQL, data mining software, statistical validation techniques, predictive modeling construction and data visualization.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Excel, Power Point and Word.
* Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement, and monitor large scale/time sensitive projects; and to work collaboratively across teams.
* Must be well organized, with the ability to prioritize work and possess a great attention to detail and accuracy and an ability to complete multiple complex assignments within short time frames and with minimal direction.
* Experience working with Medicaid eligibility and enrollment data, health plans’ operations and data (encounters, claims, clinical quality, etc.) strongly preferred.
* Working knowledge of state and federal Medicaid policy and regulatory reporting requirements preferred.
