Business Intelligence (BI) Director

Description

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Director to join an engineering organization in Madison, Wisconsin on a Contract to Permanent basis. This leadership role is suited for someone who can guide enterprise BI initiatives, shape reporting strategy, and direct cross-functional teams through complex solution delivery. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in business intelligence platforms and implementations, along with the ability to align technical programs with broader business goals in a collaborative, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities:
Lead enterprise business intelligence programs from planning through execution, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time and aligned with organizational priorities.
Direct both technical and functional team members involved in BI solution delivery, creating clarity around goals, ownership, and performance expectations.
Establish and drive implementation roadmaps for reporting, analytics, and data warehousing solutions across the organization.
Oversee the deployment and optimization of BI platforms and reporting tools, including environments related to BusinessObjects, BIRT, Reporting Workbench, and Dynamics-connected reporting needs.
Partner with stakeholders across the business to define reporting strategy, prioritize initiatives, and translate operational needs into scalable BI solutions.
Provide program-level governance for multiple concurrent implementations, managing risks, dependencies, resource planning, and delivery standards.
Guide the design and continuous improvement of business intelligence and data warehousing capabilities to support accurate, actionable insights.
Ensure successful adoption of new BI solutions by promoting best practices, driving communication across teams, and supporting change management during implementation efforts.

Requirements

Proven experience in a director-level or senior leadership role overseeing business intelligence programs and teams.
Strong background in business intelligence, reporting strategy, and data warehousing within complex organizational environments.
Demonstrated success leading BI implementations and managing full lifecycle solution delivery across multiple workstreams.
Hands-on familiarity with reporting and analytics technologies such as BusinessObjects, BIRT, Reporting Workbench, or comparable BI platforms.
Experience building implementation strategies and roadmaps that support long-term reporting and analytics objectives.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders, technical contributors, and business partners.
Strong program management skills, including oversight of timelines, risks, dependencies, and implementation outcomes.
