Position: Lead DataPower Migration Consultant / Architect
Location: Michigan
Duration:3+ months
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced IBM DataPower Consultant / Architect to lead the migration and upgrade of 11 IBM DataPower physical appliances across Development, QA, Production, and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments for a major automotive enterprise client.The migration will follow a Secure Backup & Restore (Lift-and-Shift) approach, reusing the existing topology, IP strategy, and infrastructure without re-architecture.
Core Responsibilities
- Assess and inventory existing DataPower domains, services, certificates, and crypto objects.
- Develop migration runbooks, cutover plans, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate appliance installation, firmware upgrades, and base configurations.
- Configure networking, VLANs, DNS, NTP, SNMP, Syslog, RBM, and security hardening.
- Execute Secure Backup & Restore migrations across all environments.
- Validate HA/DR configurations, firewall rules, and load balancer integrations.
- Lead SIT, UAT, DR testing, production cutover, and post-production hypercare support.
Technical Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataPower physical appliances.
- Expertise in DataPower migrations, firmware upgrades, and Secure Backup & Restore methodologies.
- Strong networking knowledge including VLANs, IP routing, firewall, and load balancing.
- Experience with HA/DR environments, RBM, certificate management, and appliance security hardening.
- Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure services such as DNS, NTP, SNMP, and Syslog.
