Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Quality Engineer I is responsible for examining components from product field returns, exanimating problems at customer sites, participating in cross functional research projects to improve product quality, data collection and analysis, and evaluating/utilizing quality systems and tools to be used by the global organization. This position will work with QA, R&D, strategic business units (SBUs), and our overseas manufacturing facilities to help implement improvements and to support reporting the root cause of field issues.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time

Quality Engineering:

Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective action for product, process, and customer complaint-related concerns or issues

Assist the quality manager in maintaining the quality management system

Occasional travel to customer sites to determine the root cause of reported issues and provide a solution, satisfying the customer

Work with QA, R&D, SBUs and overseas manufacturing to support the implementation of improvements and monitor the success

Utilize the basic tools of Six Sigma and principles of continuous improvement to solve problems and analyze data

Host early warning meetings that connect the design & manufacture stage to product installation & customer service stage, and provide feedback to improve the product or other processes as needed

Give feedback on the troubleshooting guides for different products as needed

Collect and analyze data from available databases to monitor product quality and manage improvement plans

Improve current work processes and assist others when necessary

Maintain Work Practices:

Maintain work area to 6S standards as posted in work area

Promote a positive team atmosphere with coworkers

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree or above in a field related to data analysis, engineering, or other related areas

Experience:

2 years quality related experience preferred

Experience working with SAP, CRM and other similar ERP systems

Experience working with technical support, quality departments, and R&D to troubleshoot and document issues

A quality-related ASQ certification (a plus)

Experience with product testing, root cause analysis and problem-solving (a plus)

Experience working with overseas manufacturing facilities (a plus)

Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft office products; Word, Excel, and Outlook in particular

Ability and willingness to travel both internationally and domestically

Excellent written and verbal communication skills - technical writing experience a plus

Excellent organizational skills - data analysis experience a plus

Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals

Ability to manage tasks to completion and participate in teams to solve issues

Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous and often changing environment
