Description:
Job Summary
The client is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a Cisco-to-Arista network transformation within a Data Center (DC) environment. The engineer will be responsible for migrating existing Cisco network infrastructure to Arista switching platforms, ensuring seamless connectivity, minimal downtime, and reliable network operations throughout the migration.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco and Arista networking technologies, data center switching, network migration planning, configuration, troubleshooting, and post-migration validation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute the migration of data center network infrastructure from Cisco switches to Arista switches.
  • Assess the existing Cisco network architecture, configurations, topology, VLANs, routing, and switching environment.
  • Configure and deploy Arista switches using Arista EOS (Extensible Operating System).
  • Translate and migrate Cisco configurations to Arista, including VLANs, trunking, Layer 2/Layer 3 switching, routing protocols, and access control policies.
  • Work with data center technologies such as BGP, OSPF, MLAG, VXLAN, EVPN, and leaf-spine architectures, as applicable to the existing environment.
  • Develop migration plans, implementation procedures, rollback strategies, and validation checklists.
  • Perform network cutovers, troubleshoot migration issues, and minimize service disruption.
  • Validate network connectivity, routing, redundancy, failover, and application reachability following migration.
  • Collaborate with data center operations, infrastructure, security, application, and other network engineering teams.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration backups, migration documentation, and operational handover records.
  • Support post-migration stabilization and resolve network performance or connectivity issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience in enterprise networking and data center network engineering.
  • Practical experience with Cisco switching and routing technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Arista switches and Arista EOS.
  • Experience performing network migrations, preferably from Cisco to Arista.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, VLANs, trunking, STP, LACP, routing, and redundancy.
  • Experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across complex data center network environments.
  • Experience with network change management, maintenance windows, implementation plans, and rollback procedures.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and support critical infrastructure migrations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Arista MLAG, VXLAN/EVPN, and leaf-spine data center architectures.
  • Familiarity with network automation tools such as Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with network monitoring, packet analysis, and performance troubleshooting tools.
  • Relevant Cisco or Arista certifications.

Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $51.00-56.00 per hour.
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include [geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate].
