Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior SCCM / Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) Engineer with deep expertise in large-scale Windows OS upgrade programs and advanced task sequence design.

This role will lead enterprise-level Windows upgrade initiatives (Windows 10 → Windows 11) across large, distributed environments (10K+ endpoints). The ideal candidate is a task sequence expert who can design scalable, resilient, and zero-touch deployment solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

Windows OS Upgrade Leadership

  • Lead enterprise-wide Windows upgrade programs using SCCM/MECM

  • Design and execute In-Place Upgrade (IPU) strategies

  • Manage upgrade lifecycle: readiness, pilot, phased rollout, cutover

  • Collaborate with security, identity, and endpoint teams

SCCM Task Sequence Architecture

  • Architect complex task sequences for:

    • In-place upgrades (IPU)

    • Bare metal & refresh deployments

  • Implement:

    • Pre-flight validation checks

    • Conditional logic & dynamic branching

    • Error handling & rollback mechanisms

  • Optimize for scale, performance, and resiliency

Application & Driver Readiness

  • Lead application compatibility testing and remediation

  • Manage driver strategies (dynamic injection, fallback logic)

  • Ensure upgrade stability for apps, security tools, and agents

SCCM Infrastructure & Operations

  • Support SCCM components (DPs, MPs, SUPs)

  • Manage collections, boundaries, deployment logic

  • Troubleshoot using logs, task sequences, and SQL insights

  • Optimize content distribution and bandwidth

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Build dashboards for upgrade success/failure tracking

  • Use telemetry for continuous improvement

  • Create runbooks and operational documentation

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as SME for Windows deployment

  • Mentor junior engineers and offshore teams

  • Work with program managers and stakeholders


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of SCCM / MECM experience

  • Proven experience leading large-scale Windows upgrades (10K+ devices)

  • Expert in SCCM task sequence design & troubleshooting

  • Strong experience with:

    • Windows 10 / Windows 11 deployment

    • Client-side logging & troubleshooting

  • Advanced PowerShell scripting


Preferred Skills:

  • SCCM + Intune / Co-management experience

  • Windows Autopilot exposure

  • Experience in global or managed services environments

  • Experience with large transformation programs (M&A, etc.)
