Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Java Lead Engineer with strong expertise in Java 17, backend development, RESTful APIs, AWS, DevOps, and software architecture.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on development experience, a strong understanding of highly available and reliable systems, and proven experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams.

This role involves designing, developing, and deploying enterprise applications, providing technical leadership, mentoring developers, and delivering scalable solutions for a modern digital platform.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

• Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred.

Required Technical Skills

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing Java applications.

• 3+ years of experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams.

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17.

• Extensive experience in backend application development.

• Strong experience designing and developing RESTful web services.

• Hands-on knowledge of AWS services, including:

  • IAM

  • Kinesis

  • DynamoDB

  • API stack

  • SQS

  • SNS

  • KMS

• Experience with Slick and SQL queries.

• Strong understanding of DevOps practices.

• Experience designing highly available, scalable, and reliable applications.

• Software architecture and system design experience.

• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently on complex technical assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise Java applications.

• Develop scalable backend services using Java 17 and RESTful APIs.

• Provide technical leadership to development and support teams.

• Lead geographically distributed teams and coordinate cross-functional development activities.

• Design and implement highly available and reliable software solutions.

• Work on complex application architecture and infrastructure components.

• Troubleshoot and resolve critical application and technical issues.

• Provide off-shift and weekend support when required.

• Establish coding standards, development best practices, and software quality guidelines.

• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.

• Identify opportunities for technical improvements and team development.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and internal customers to understand requirements.

• Lead the development of new applications and business-critical features.

• Perform integration testing and support customer acceptance testing.

• Evaluate new technologies and provide technical recommendations.

• Promote reusable components, enterprise architecture standards, and development best practices.

• Ensure applications meet performance, reliability, security, and scalability requirements.
