Summary:

This position will report to the Engineering Manager leading the Process Engineering team supporting the Central Texas Operations organization. Primary focus is to provide Process Engineering and Optimization support to Gathering and Processing facilities:
King Ranch Gas Plant totaling 350 MMSCFD capacity
(5) Treating Facilities totaling 750+ MMSCFD capacity
Candidate will also evaluate, scope and execute small to medium capital projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily listed below:
  • Perform and support upfront engineering activities for assigned facilities.
  • Work with plant, frac and terminal operations personnel to help improve plant operations.
  • Maintain facility process simulations and work with other process engineers to develop process solutions while following engineering standards, code compliance, company and safety standards, and good engineering practices.
  • Provide engineering design and project management for assigned projects in accordance with Company specifications, industry standards and Federal regulations.
  • Assist with Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Layers of Protection Analyses (LOPAs), and other process safety reviews.
  • Support OSHA PSM-required activities, including preparation and maintenance of Process Safety Information, resolution of open PHA action items, and PSV studies
  • Assist in project planning activities such as cost estimating, schedule development, procurement coordination, contractor oversight, and progress tracking.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to expand process engineering knowledge and develop technical proficiencies.

Core Functions for the Process Engineering Team are as follows:

Process Optimization
  • Revenue Generation -Capacity Increases, Product Uplift, Increased Runtime
  • Expense Reduction -Reduce Utilities, Maintenance, Consumables

Process Troubleshooting
  • Operations Support -Primary Resource for Ops
  • RCFA's -Lead Investigations, Develop & Implement Solutions, Lessons Learned

Compliance Support
  • PSM -PHA Prep & Engineering SME, Addressing Action Items, PSI Upkeep
  • Environmental -Quantifying & Supporting Emissions Compliance

CapMaintProject Execution
  • Annual Project Budget Cycle Support -Scoping & Estimating Projects
  • Project Execution -Assign PM's and Execute Projects

CapGrowthProject Support
  • Pre-FID -Concept Reviews, Lessons Learned, Potential Optimizations
  • Post-FID -Design Reviews, PHA, Commissioning & Start-up Support

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (pref. Chemical, Mechanical, or Natural Gas)
  • See below for years of relevant job experience
  • General understanding of Process Engineering Principles, Methodologies, and Tools
    • Design, optimization, and operation of gathering and processing systems, including gas gathering networks, compression, treating, cryogenic processing, residue gas handling, and NGL recovery.
    • Industry Codes and their application: API, ASME, NFPA, OSHA PSM
    • Engineering Process Simulation Programs (ProMax, Hysys, etc.)
    • Microsoft Office Suite applications

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
  • The Associate Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 0-3 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 6-10 years of relevant job related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the requirements listed above, we value candidates with any of the following qualifications:
  • Experience with Gathering & Processing across Gas and Liquid commodities
  • Experience with PSM facilities and PHA/LOPA processes
  • Operations, Maintenance or Technical Operations experience in the Midstream industry
  • Commercial experience in the Midstream industry
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, etc)
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location.
  • Normal office working conditions and field work
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment will occur.
