Senior Data Steward (Technical Java & Google Cloud Platform)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Steward with strong expertise in Data Governance, Data Quality Management, and Record Retention & Deletion policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in Java-based enterprise applications and cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform), enabling them to bridge governance requirements with technical implementation.

This role requires a hands-on professional who can drive data compliance, quality monitoring, and governance initiatives while collaborating closely with engineering, product, and business teams.

• Lead implementation and oversight of Record Retention and Deletion policies.
• Identify data-related risks and associated controls across key business processes, including:
  • Record Retention
  • Data Quality
  • Data Movement
  • Data Stewardship
  • Data Protection
  • Data Sharing
• Serve as a subject matter expert on enterprise data policies and educate business units on governance requirements.
• Partner with Data Steward Manager to develop and manage the data compliance roadmap.
• Support regulatory reporting needs by collaborating with upstream data providers, downstream consumers, and technology teams.

• Monitor and maintain platform-wide data quality, including critical data elements.
• Identify data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive remediation.
• Address audit findings and regulatory feedback related to data quality.
• Contribute to strategic improvements in data assessment processes and analytical tools.

• Develop and maintain Spring Boot applications using Java.
• Design and implement RESTful web services and APIs.
• Work with microservices architecture and service-oriented systems.
• Support Google Cloud Platform application migration initiatives for large enterprises.
• Ensure adherence to software security best practices.
• Utilize monitoring tools to ensure system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers to ensure new use cases comply with governance policies.

• 8+ years of professional experience as a Java Engineer.
• 2 5 years of Data Quality Management experience.
• 2 5 years of experience working in Agile or SAFe methodologies.
• Experience working within large-scale, decoupled, service-oriented systems.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform application migration in enterprise environments.

• Strong expertise in:
  • Java
  • Spring / Spring Boot
  • Hibernate / Struts
  • RESTful API development
  • Microservices architecture
• Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Intermediate competency in SQL and Python (or related programming languages).
• Strong understanding of:
  • Data Governance concepts (metadata, lineage, data quality)
  • Data architecture and data modeling
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
• Knowledge of monitoring tools and cloud technologies.
