Founding Product Designer - New York (Onsite)

Our client, is building the essential infrastructure for global medical care. While millions of patients travel abroad each year for procedures like IVF, dental work, and orthopedic surgery, they often rely on risky social media leads and unverified clinics. Our client is changing that by creating a safe, transparent, and medical-board-vetted platform that connects patients with world-class surgeons and clinics worldwide. Backed by a board of top U.S. surgeons, they are transforming a fragmented experience into a structured and supported medical journey.

We are seeking a Founding Product Designer to join as the first design hire. In this pivotal role, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end design process from high-level product strategy and user research to high-fidelity visual execution. You will work closely with the founders and senior leadership to define the visual identity and user experience of a platform that balances deep logistical complexity with the empathy and trust required in healthcare. This is a great opportunity to build a design culture from scratch and shape a product that has a tangible impact on people's lives and safety.

Requirements

4 to 7years of experience in product design, with a web portfolio of case studies showcasing exceptional visual craft and execution.
Early Startup Experience. You've ideally have been a founding, first, or very early design hire at a high-growth startup.
End-to-end capabilities: You are equally comfortable mapping out complex user flows as you are creating beautiful, modern UI components and design systems.
Prototyping & Craft: Mastery of Figma and modern prototyping tools; you believe that the "feel" of a product is as important as its function.
Entrepreneurial Mindset: You thrive in ambiguity and are excited by the challenge of building a brand and product from zero to one.

Responsibilities

Lead the design of the core platform, creating a seamless experience for patients navigating international healthcare.
Establish and maintain the company's first formal design system to ensure visual and functional consistency across all touchpoints.
Partner with the founders and engineering team to prioritize features, translate complex medical logistics into intuitive interfaces, and shipping high-impact updates.
Conduct lightweight user research and testing to validate assumptions and deeply understand the anxieties and needs of medical travelers.
Act as the internal champion for design, setting the bar for quality and helping to hire the future design team as the company scales.
