Job Description: Business Analyst 

Location: Michigan (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 Months Contract
Work Arrangement: Onsite Wednesday and Thursday
Employment Type: Contract with potential for full-time conversion

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst 5 to support business analysis activities, IT projects, and technology enhancements. The ideal candidate will serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, facilitating requirements gathering, business process modeling, strategic planning, and Agile development activities.

The candidate will help improve public-facing applications, support business process improvements, and ensure that project requirements align with organizational objectives, policies, and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders, management, and technical teams.

  • Conduct business process reviews, requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation.

  • Develop business process models, workflows, and process diagrams.

  • Create, refine, and manage user stories for Agile development projects.

  • Define business requirements and acceptance criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops to identify business needs and priorities.

  • Work directly with senior management to develop strategies, establish roadmaps, and resolve conflicting priorities.

  • Support the development and enhancement of public-facing IT applications.

  • Identify process gaps, recommend improvements, and help implement effective solutions.

  • Assist with project planning, requirements validation, and implementation activities.

  • Support Statements of Work (SOWs), contracts, and other project agreements when required.

  • Ensure business requirements align with organizational policies, standards, and applicable state or federal regulations.

  • Maintain clear and accurate project documentation.

  • Provide excellent customer service and adapt to evolving project needs and priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business process reviews, requirements elicitation, requirements documentation, and process modeling.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and/or managing user stories on Agile development projects.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with senior management to facilitate strategic discussions, develop roadmaps, and build consensus.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working on projects involving the development or implementation of IT solutions for public use.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting the development of or compliance with Statements of Work (SOWs), contracts, or other work agreements.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with programs governed by state or federal regulations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Experience supporting government IT projects or public-facing digital services.

Work Arrangement and Location Requirements

  • Hybrid work schedule; remote-only arrangements are not available.

  • Onsite attendance is required from Day 1, every Wednesday and Thursday.

  • Local candidates are strongly preferred.

  • Non-local candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense without delaying the start and comply with the required onsite schedule.

Interview Process

  • Round 1: Virtual interview.

  • Round 2: In-person interview.

  • Candidates must be available to attend the in-person interview.

Contract-to-Hire Opportunity

The initial contract duration is six months, with the potential for conversion to a full-time position within that period.

At the time of full-time hire, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship from the employer.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in business process modeling, requirements management, Agile user stories, and senior stakeholder engagement. The candidate should have experience supporting public-facing IT solutions, excellent communication skills, and the ability to facilitate collaboration between business and technical teams.
