Gameplay Engineer

Location: United States (Remote)

Work Type: Contract

Role Overview

Our team is looking for two experienced Gameplay Engineers to support a growing workload on a multiplayer game project. These engineers will take ownership of major gameplay and systems initiatives, working across gameplay, backend, and data-driven systems within Unreal Engine. This is an opportunity to build and own features from concept through implementation while partnering with a highly collaborative engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain gameplay systems using Unreal Engine and C++.
  • Own features and systems from architecture through delivery.
  • Build scalable, data-driven gameplay and backend systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality player experiences.
  • Contribute to multiplayer gameplay development and networked systems.
  • Drive technical solutions and help shape the overall implementation strategy for key game features.
  • Ensure systems are maintainable, performant, and aligned with project goals.
Required Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of professional game development experience.
  • Strong C++ programming skills.
  • Experience with the standard Unreal Engine technology stack.
  • Proven ability to design and implement data-driven systems.
  • Experience building systems from the ground up, including architecture, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience developing multiplayer games.
  • Shipped or supported AAA or AA game titles.
  • Strong generalist engineering background with the ability to work across multiple areas of development.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Gameplay Ability System (GAS) is highly desirable for a Gameplay/Character Engineer focus.
  • Strong experience building scalable systems and services is preferred for a Systems/Backend Engineer focus
