Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced WebSphere & Container Services Administrator to support enterprise middleware, cloud infrastructure, container platforms, and integration services in a large-scale government environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in WebSphere administration, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), Kubernetes services (EKS/AKS), application security, integration platforms, and technical consulting.
Required Experience
- 12+ years of relevant IT experience.
- 5+ years supporting Kubernetes platforms including EKS and AKS.
- 5+ years of WebSphere Application Server administration.
- 2+ years of cloud platform administration (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- 5+ years administering application security products.
- 5+ years administering integration platforms.
- 5+ years working with government agencies.
- 5+ years providing senior-level technical consulting to IT management and technical staff.
- 3+ years providing guidance regarding emerging technologies and enterprise adoption.
Required Knowledge
- Unix, Linux, and Windows system administration.
- High availability, horizontal and vertical scaling, and disaster recovery.
- Single Sign-On (SSO), Load Balancers, Firewalls, and Network Infrastructure.
- Monitoring tools including Splunk, Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and AWS CloudWatch.
- CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, Nexus, Bitbucket, and related automation technologies.
- Source control tools including Git and Subversion.
- Enterprise storage systems.
- Salesforce and MuleSoft environments.
- Application development, implementation, deployment, and integration methodologies.
- Web Services, APIs, Messaging, Data Transformation, and Integration technologies.

Key Responsibilities
WebSphere Administration
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain WebSphere Application Server environments on Linux and AIX.
- Perform upgrades, patches, security fixes, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor application and system performance and resolve issues proactively.
- Collaborate with development teams on deployments and production support.
- Configure and maintain Apache, IBM HTTP Server (IHS), and IIS environments.
- Manage SSL certificates, security configurations, and application hardening.
- Develop shell scripts and automate administrative tasks.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and coordinate resolution efforts.
Technical Consulting & Advisory
- Provide senior-level technical consulting to IT leadership and development teams.
- Collaborate with application teams to design secure API and integration solutions.
- Review architecture designs and provide implementation guidance.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and recommend enterprise solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and advise management on adoption strategies.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical design sessions.
- Advocate for innovative technology solutions and process improvements.
Integration Platform Administration
- Administer enterprise integration platforms including MuleSoft and Salesforce integrations.
- Support API security, policy management, and middleware environments.
- Troubleshoot API, integration, networking, and database-related issues.
- Support JSON-to-SOAP and SOAP-to-JSON transformations.
- Assist development teams with API architecture and implementation best practices.
Cloud & Container Management
- Manage enterprise workloads in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud environments.
- Deploy, support, and monitor applications running in EKS and AKS.
- Support Kubernetes, Docker, Microservices, and Containerized environments.
- Work with cloud vendors and infrastructure teams to implement cloud solutions.
- Deploy and manage cloud-native applications and middleware services.
- Monitor cloud environments using CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and related tools.
- Participate in infrastructure automation and DevOps initiatives.
