Description:

Position Summary

The Senior Finance IT Transformation Analyst drives finance process improvement, systems enablement, reporting enhancements, and cross-functional transformation initiatives across Finance operations. Acting as a key liaison between Finance, IT, business stakeholders, and external partners, this role translates business needs into scalable process, data, reporting, and technology solutions.

The position leads complex initiatives with limited direction, improves operational efficiency and data quality, strengthens internal controls, and drives user adoption to ensure finance systems and processes deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Process Transformation

Assess, design, optimize, and standardize end-to-end finance processes across Accounts Payable, Procurement, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Accounting, FP&A, and reporting.

Facilitate current-state and future-state process design sessions to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, manual workarounds, reporting issues, and automation opportunities.

Partner with Finance leaders and process owners to recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, data integrity, user experience, and decision support.

Ensure process improvements align with internal controls, audit requirements, and segregation of duties.

Business Analysis and Solution Design

Lead discovery sessions to gather, clarify, and prioritize business requirements across Finance, IT, business stakeholders, vendors, and implementation teams.

Translate business needs into actionable requirements, functional specifications, process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, and test scenarios.

Document project decisions, issues, dependencies, and requirements to maintain traceability from solution design through implementation and post-go-live validation.

Facilitate stakeholder alignment, challenge assumptions, and influence decisions without direct authority.

Finance Systems, Data and Reporting

Serve as a primary Finance liaison and business subject matter expert for finance systems, reporting tools, workflows, integrations, data structures, and system enhancements.

Lead or support system implementations, integrations, upgrades, production issue resolution, release testing, and reporting improvements across finance-related platforms.

Partner with Finance leaders to define reporting requirements, dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and recurring management reports.

Validate data across systems, investigate reporting discrepancies, and recommend improvements to data quality, governance, reporting consistency, and transparency.

Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business requirements and deliver accurate, reliable results.

Project Delivery and Vendor Coordination

Lead or support cross-functional finance transformation projects, defining scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, responsibilities, and success measures.

Coordinate vendors, consultants, and implementation partners to manage deliverables, solution design decisions, testing, issue resolution, and deployment.

Communicate project status, risks, recommendations, business cases, decisions, and outcomes to Finance leadership, IT partners, and senior stakeholders.

Support post-implementation stabilization and ensure delivered solutions meet business objectives.

Change Management and User Adoption

Develop and support change management plans, training materials, user guides, job aids, and stakeholder communications.

Coordinate readiness activities, training, and post-go-live support to drive adoption of new systems, processes, and reporting tools.

Gather user feedback and monitor process performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Controls, Compliance and Continuous Improvement

Ensure finance processes and systems support appropriate approval workflows, role-based access, segregation of duties, audit evidence, and compliance requirements.

Partner with Accounting, Internal Audit, Compliance, IT, and Finance leaders to identify operational risks, strengthen controls, and maintain audit readiness.

Promote ongoing standardization, automation, data governance, and process improvement across Finance operations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.

5+ years of progressive experience in finance transformation, finance operations, finance systems, business analysis, financial analysis, project delivery, or related Finance/IT roles.

Demonstrated experience leading or supporting cross-functional finance transformation initiatives, process improvements, system implementations, integrations, upgrades, or reporting enhancements.

Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, process mapping, documentation, stakeholder facilitation, testing, and solution design.

Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with finance systems, reporting tools, workflows, data validation, and cross-system reporting.

Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively with senior leaders.

Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Workday Financials, Workday Adaptive Planning, Salesforce, Ironclad, Power BI, project accounting, contract lifecycle management tools, or other integrated finance and business platforms.

Experience in healthcare, accreditation, nonprofit, professional services, regulated environments, or organizations with complex revenue streams and multi-system finance operations.

Knowledge of internal controls, audit readiness, approval workflows, role-based access, data governance, and finance reporting standards.

Experience developing training materials, user guides, job aids, change communications, dashboards, KPIs, and recurring finance reports.

Project management or Agile certifications, such as PMP, Scrum, or SAFe.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate combines experience in Finance, business analysis, systems, data, reporting, and project execution. This individual can bridge Finance and IT, translate complex business needs into practical solutions, and drive improvements through technology, process standardization, and disciplined project delivery.

Strong candidates will demonstrate experience gathering requirements, improving finance processes, coordinating system implementations, leading testing, validating cross-system data, enhancing reporting, strengthening controls, managing vendor relationships, and driving user adoption. They are intellectually curious, highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and effective at communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Success Measures

Improved efficiency, automation, standardization, and scalability across Finance operations.

Successful delivery, adoption, and stabilization of finance technology, reporting, and transformation initiatives.
