Summary:
- Expedites the settlement of insurance claims by submitting accurate claims and performing appropriate follow-up activities in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Patients are served after their healthcare services are received by providing quality and efficient accounting services. Collaborates with patients and insurance companies to process claims and close out accounts. Performs duties in a manner that projects a positive image of the department and the hospital.

- EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 year experience working with insurance related field preferred. Computer background required. Knowledge of managed care contracting terms preferred.
- LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
- OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent organizational skills required. Proficient written and oral communication skills. Ability to utilize personal computer, electronic calculator, and other office equipment. Basic accounting background and medical terminology preferred. Strong analytical ability preferred. Excellent customer service skills required.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Utilization of ergonomical workstations. Exposed to moderate temperatures and controlled lighting. Subject to many interruptions due to multiple calls and inquiries. May involve some patient contact.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Continuous sitting and keying. Occasional walking, lifting, carrying, standing. Required to view computer terminal for extended periods of time.
