Workday Functional Payroll - Time & Absence

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's direct client has an immediate need for an experienced Workday Functional Payroll, Time & Absence Consultant for a 6 month/contract assignment onsite (5 days a week) in Parsippany, NJ or Philadelphia, PA.

Summary:
The Workday Functional Payroll Consultant will provide hands-on support across payroll operations, testing, and configuration during a defined contract period. This role will focus on Workday payroll upgrades, complex compliance requirements (including FLSA and union rules), and close collaboration with an existing payroll team to ensure accuracy, stability, and timely delivery. This is a high-touch, on-site role requiring strong functional expertise in Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence, as well as proven experience operating in complex, regulated payroll environments.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and execute testing for Workday payroll and related system upgrades
* Validate payroll functionality during upgrades, including overtime (OT) rules and downstream payroll impacts
* Ensure ongoing compliance with complex FLSA pay cycles and regulatory requirements
* Support payroll upgrade activities, including issue identification, remediation, and validation
* Work closely with an existing payroll team member to balance workload and ensure continuity
* Provide hands-on support for payroll configuration changes and testing cycles
* Partner with the account manager to support resume review and candidate evaluation as needed
* Communicate clearly with business, HR, and payroll stakeholders on risks, changes, and outcomes

REQUIREMENTS:
* Workday Certifications in Payroll Time & Absence highly desired.
* Strong hands-on experience with Workday Payroll
* Demonstrated expertise in FLSA compliance and complex payroll cycles
* Experience configuring Workday Time Tracking and Absence modules
* Proven ability to manage complex payroll calculations and testing scenarios
* Experience supporting payroll environments with union or CBA-driven requirements
* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
* Able to work onsite, five days per week in Parsippany or Philadelphia areas
* Schedule flexibility may be considered after a period of established trust and performance

Preferred Qualifications:
* Prior experience supporting Workday payroll upgrades or major releases
* Experience in highly regulated or multi-site payroll environments
* Strong documentation and communication skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
