Kentro is hiring an experienced
Systems Engineer MacOS Lead to support our Endpoint Engineering Team on our VA-ESOM End Point Support and Operations Monitoring contract across the United States. The VA is responsible for providing comprehensive onsite and remote support to IT customers across all VA Administrations and special program offices, including direct support of over 340,000 VA employees and thousands of contractors who use government-furnished IT equipment and infrastructure. The VA provides support staff across 100+ CONUS and OCONUS locations, including difficult-to-accommodate locales, such as high cost of living or under-supported economic areas, where VA offices or facilities may be located and require onsite services.
The
Systems Engineer MacOS Lead is responsible for maintaining and improving MacOS baselines and supporting the full MacOS lifecycle across the enterprise. This role provides technical leadership across system architecture, design, integration, and technical management, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and client requirements.
The
Systems Engineer MacOS Lead serves as a trusted advisor to the client, providing guidance on product selection, capacity planning, operational performance, and overall MacOS endpoint strategy. The role contributes technical input to the systems engineering process, performs requirements analysis, prepares and presents systems assurance reviews, and identifies deficiencies in hardware and software products.
In addition to hands-on engineering responsibilities, this individual leads targeted initiatives to enhance MacOS posture, security, and operational efficiency, while coordinating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
Location: This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.
Responsibilities- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of MacOS baseline configurations
- Manage and support the MacOS device lifecycle, including provisioning, patching, compliance, upgrades, and decommissioning
- Assist the Mac Team with advanced scripting and development tasks, including BASH scripting and Apple development practices
- Support automation and integration efforts to optimize macOS processes and deployment workflows
- Adapt workflows and processes in response to changes in Endpoint management contracts or enterprise requirements
- Collaborate closely with Mac Team members to troubleshoot complex issues and optimize system configurations
- Conduct requirements analysis and translate business needs into scalable MacOS technical solutions
- Prepare and present systems assurance reviews, technical findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
- Advise the client on MacOS product selection, capacity planning, and operational performance
Team Coordination and Delivery Support - Partner with the Project Manager to support planning, tracking, and reporting of MacOS initiatives
- Collaborate with Endpoint Engineering SMEs and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery
- Provide technical guidance and direction to team members supporting MacOS engineering efforts
- Support prioritization of workstreams and ensure alignment with client objectives and timelines
- Contribute to status reporting by providing updates on technical progress, risks, and dependencies
Supervisory Duties - Provide day-to-day technical leadership for supporting resources
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables
- Mentor and support skill development for assigned team members
- Review work outputs to ensure alignment with engineering standards and client expectations
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, with a focus on MacOS environments. 8 additional years of relevant experience may be subsituted for the degree requirement for a total of 13+ years of experience.
- Strong proficiency in BASH scripting, Apple development standards, and MacOS automation techniques.
- Demonstrated experience managing MacOS lifecycle, baseline configurations, and enterprise deployments.
- Experience in system architecture, integration, and technical solutioning.
- Familiarity with enterprise mobility management platforms (especially Microsoft Intune for MacOS).
- Ability to perform requirements analysis and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to operate in a client-facing environment and provide strategic technical guidance.
