RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overview
kforce is seeking an experienced IBM i / AS400 System Administrator to support and maintain mission-critical IBM i environments. This role is responsible for system administration, performance optimization, security, and high availability in a regulated, production-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
IBM i / AS400 Administration
Administer, monitor, and support IBM i (AS/400) environments across production, development, and test
Perform system configuration, OS upgrades, PTF management, and releases
Manage system objects, libraries, user profiles, authorization lists, and security settings
Monitor system performance, job queues, subsystems, disk usage, and logs
Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions (PowerHA, MIMIX, iCluster)
Execute backups, restores, and regular recovery testing
Perform capacity planning and performance tuning
Incident, Problem & Change Management
Troubleshoot and resolve system-level incidents and performance issues
Support patching, infrastructure changes, and change management processes
Collaborate using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow
Security & Compliance
Enforce IBM i security best practices and access controls
Support SOX, PCI, and other internal/external audits
Monitor system access, review logs, and remediate vulnerabilities
Automation & Continuous Improvement
Develop and maintain CL, RPG, or scripting solutions to automate operations
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and performance
Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
