Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programs.
Write simple and complex SQL queries from scratch against normalized Oracle transactional databases.
Analyze business requirements and determine the appropriate tables, relationships, joins, and business rules needed to answer complex business questions.
Extract, validate, transform, and analyze operational data for reporting, research, grants, and executive requests.
Develop and maintain automated SQL processes, scheduled database jobs, and recurring data refreshes.
Troubleshoot SQL scripts, automated jobs, and data quality issues.
Create efficient, reusable, and well-documented SQL code.
Support recurring operational reports, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), legislative reporting, and research initiatives.
Collaborate with business users to understand reporting needs and communicate analytical findings.
Support Tableau dashboards and other data visualization initiatives as needed.
Required/Preferred Skills:
Oracle SQL development against transactional databases
Writing complex SQL (joins, CTEs, subqueries, CASE, aggregate, and analytic functions)
Normalized relational database design and table relationships
Oracle PL/SQL (procedures, functions, packages, views) (Highly desired)
SQL job scheduling and automated database processes
SQL troubleshooting, query optimization, and data validation (Highly desired)
Translating business requirements into SQL solutions
Operational reporting and data analysis
Tableau or other data visualization software (Highly desired)
Criminal justice or other large transactional database environments (Highly desired)
