Job Description: Senior Cloud Architect (Network Core)
Onsite - Ohio, C2C, W2 or 1099 is workable.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Cloud Architect who started their career in the trenches of traditional networking—someone who knows routers, switches, and firewalls inside out, and has transitioned that expertise into building enterprise-scale cloud environments.
In this role, you won''t just deploy cloud resources; you will design the foundational hybrid-cloud infrastructure, transit gateways, and secure connectivity that keep our entire global ecosystem running. If you are a network engineer turned cloud architect who treats Infrastructure as Code (IaC) as the new CLI, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
Architect Hybrid Cloud Connectivity: Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure network architectures linking on-premises data centers to cloud environments (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform).
Foundation Design: Build the core cloud landing zones, handling VPC/VNet design, IP address management (IPAM), routing tables, and DNS architectures at scale.
Infrastructure as Code: Drive the automation of network and cloud deployments using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
Security Integration: Implement edge security, including next-gen cloud firewalls, WAFs, DDoS protection, and zero-trust network access (ZTNA).
Mentorship & Collaboration: Bridge the gap between our traditional infrastructure teams and application developers, translating complex network topology into accessible cloud strategies.
What We Are Looking For
5+ years of experience in traditional network engineering (routing/switching, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs) paired with 3+ years of dedicated experience architecting major public cloud platforms.
Cloud Proficiency: Deep understanding of cloud-native networking constructs (e.g., AWS Transit Gateway, Azure ExpressRoute, Google Cloud Platform Cloud Interconnect).
Automation Mindset: Proven experience treating network infrastructure as software via GitOps pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
Troubleshooting DNA: The ability to packet-sniff and debug complex connectivity issues across hybrid boundaries—you know that "it’s always DNS" or a asymmetric routing issue before looking at the application code.
Certifications (Highly Valued): CCNP/CCIE or equivalent network credentials, alongside professional-level cloud architect certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
