Role: Senior Python AI Engineering Lead
Location: Bellevue, WA
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Python AI Engineering Lead to lead the architecture and development of a Python-based AI compliance platform. This is a hands-on player-coach role where you will write production code, make architectural decisions, lead engineering standards, mentor engineers, and drive the integration of AI capabilities across the platform.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Python, LLMs/Claude AI, RAG, REST APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the architecture and development of Python-based backend services.
- Design and build scalable, event-driven data pipelines for high-volume communications data.
- Lead the integration and expansion of Claude AI (Anthropic) across the platform.
- Develop prompt engineering workflows, AI-assisted analysis pipelines, and LLM-powered features.
- Build and optimize REST APIs supporting real-time data capture and analysis.
- Conduct code reviews and establish engineering standards and best practices.
- Mentor and lead a growing Python engineering team.
- Drive observability, reliability, performance, and production incident resolution.
- Partner with product and compliance teams to translate regulatory requirements into technical solutions.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging AI and LLM technologies.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of backend software engineering experience, with Python as the primary programming language.
- Strong production-level experience with Claude (Anthropic) or comparable LLM APIs.
- Hands-on experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, embeddings, and context-aware AI systems.
- Strong experience with FastAPI and/or Flask.
- Experience building REST APIs and distributed backend services.
- Experience with Kafka, message queues, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong cloud-native experience, preferably AWS.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience leading, mentoring, or managing software engineers.
- Strong understanding of security-sensitive and regulated environments.
- Strong startup mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in FinTech, RegTech, financial services, or enterprise SaaS.
- Experience working with communications data such as email, messaging, and voice.
- Experience working directly with investors or in an investor-embedded technical leadership environment.
- Exposure to data science or production ML model integration.
