Sumo Monitoring Engineer - Locals to MN

Title: Sumo Monitoring Engineer

Duration: 12 Months contract

Location: Eagan, MN

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Sumo dashboards
• Build log search queries
• Configure monitors and alerts
• Perform log analysis and troubleshooting
• Identify trends, failures, bottlenecks, and root causes
• Understand source categories, log ingestion, and monitoring coverage gaps
• Ability to digest application and integration architecture
• Read solution diagrams and understand data flows
• Understand APIs, microservices, integrations, batch jobs, file transfers, and messaging systems
• Translate business monitoring needs into technical monitoring solutions

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of: Metrics, Logs, Traces, Monitoring strategies and health checks, Alerting and threshold design
• Experience with tools such as: Sumo Logic (preferred), Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, etc.
• Strong query language skills (SQL-like experience acceptable)
• Ability to investigate logs and data sources
• Research available data and determine what can be monitored
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work with application teams, architects, developers, and support teams
• Ability to explain technical concepts to business users
• Ability to develop monitoring strategies rather than simply build dashboards
