Summary

Job Description:

The Manager of Testing and Analysis is a key leadership role within the Quality Department, responsible for overseeing all aspects of cell testing and failure analysis. This individual will lead a team of engineers, ensuring the development and execution of comprehensive test plans, managing test lab operations, driving failure analysis investigations, and implementing quality management best practices. This individual will also be key to driving a strong culture within the team that aligns with the larger cultural goals of the quality department and AES organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the test lab and failure analysis team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure the achievement of departmental and company objectives
  • Develop and implement strategic vision for test, validation and failure analysis labs which align with the business direction and aid the growth of the organization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing, to ensure that testing requirements are integrated into the product development process
  • Collaborate with global test labs and failure analysis labs to ensure consistency in execution and data collection
  • Develop and implement strategic testing plans and methodologies to validate cell performance, reliability, and safety, with a specific focus on lithium-ion battery testing
  • Lead the Failure Analysis Team to drive root cause analysis of cell failures, utilizing a variety of techniques (e.g., SEM, EDS, XRD, EIS) to identify failure mechanisms and implement corrective actions
  • Drive decision making pertains to product performance and failures using detailed risk assessment and performance frameup
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, work instructions, and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Monitor and report on key metrics, providing regular updates to senior management on testing progress, results, and any potential issues
  • Drive a strong culture across the test engineering team concurrent to the Milwaukee Tool Cultural Expectations

Qualification
  • Master's degree in electrical, automation, chemical engineering or a related field
  • 8-10 years of industry experience in testing, failure analysis or quality role, with a focus on lithium-ion battery technology
  • Proven experience in managing a team of engineers, with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff
  • Proven experience in managing test and analytics lab and its resources with a focus on operational efficiency, management and optimization
  • Extensive knowledge of lithium-ion battery testing methodologies, including performance, reliability, and safety testing
  • Strong background in failure analysis techniques, with experience in using tools such as SEM, EDS, XRD, EIS, and other relevant analytical methods
  • Experience in test development, including the design and implementation of test plans, procedures, and documentation
  • Solid understanding of quality management principles and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills with focus on executive reporting
