Job Description

Joining Amex Tech means discovering and shaping your contribution to something big. Here, you can work alongside talented tech teams and build a unique career with the Powerful Backing of American Express. With a range of opportunities to work with the latest technologies, and a commitment to back the broader engineering community through open source, our mission is to power your success. Because Amex Tech is powered by our technology, our culture, and our colleagues.

The Technology organization enables and accelerates the company's growth strategies, delivering global capabilities and services in support of Amex's customers and colleagues, while maintaining 24/7 servicing and availability to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality customer experience. Technology provides the foundation for everything we do in the company while driving differentiation through building and leveraging innovative technology and data insights.

How will you make an impact in this role?
The Enterprise CRM Solutions team was created in 2024 as part of the company's Framework for Winning. Core to our purpose is reimagining the platform solution-delivery model to dramatically improve our strategic agility, speed to market, effectiveness of delivery and transparency. The Enterprise Customer Relationship Management Solutions (ECRMS) team creates solutions for the Sales and Customer Domain via respective platforms by harnessing the power of Data, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence to offer powerful selling and re-selling engines to acquire new clients and expand existing client relationships for Sales, Account Development, and Marketers across the Enterprise.

Responsibilities

We are looking for engineers with a strong foundation, which you can demonstrate through a combination of formal education, self-learning, own projects or a formal working experience. If you are not willing to learn and write code, then this is not the job for you.
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex Salesforce solutions, integrations and platform capabilities, from requirements through production.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural direction, translating business needs into scalable, maintainable and secure solutions.
  • Own solutions end-to-end, proactively identifying dependencies, technical risks and trade-offs and driving them to resolution.
  • Lead technical design discussions and influence decisions across Product, Engineering, Architecture and partner teams.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, providing technical coaching, thoughtful code/design reviews and helping raise engineering standards across the team.
  • Remain hands-on with development while leading by example in code quality, testing, automation, observability and engineering best practices.
  • Drive modernization and simplification of the Salesforce platform, including reducing technical debt and improving platform scalability and maintainability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve CI/CD, developer productivity, automation and engineering processes.
  • Evaluate and champion adoption of new Salesforce capabilities and technologies where they create meaningful business or engineering value.
  • Navigate ambiguity, challenge existing approaches when appropriate, and drive alignment and resolution across teams.
  • Promote inner sourcing, reusable capabilities and engineering practices that benefit the broader technology organization.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading the design and delivery of complex enterprise solutions
  • 5+ years architecting, designing and developing on the Salesforce platform, with deep understanding of its capabilities, limitations and architectural patterns
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apex, LWC, SOQL/SOSL, APIs, integrations and Salesforce data/security models
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership across engineering teams, including solution design, code/design reviews and technical decision-making
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers, raise engineering standards and influence teams without direct authority
  • Experience owning large or complex solutions end-to-end, including architecture, estimation, delivery, production readiness and ongoing modernization
  • Strong experience designing enterprise integrations and API-based solutions across Salesforce and distributed systems
  • Ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs, manage technical risk and drive alignment across Product, Engineering and Architecture stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, take ownership and drive complex problems to resolution
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
