Client is seeking an Azure Synapse Administration - In this role, you will enable digital transformation for our clients in a global delivery model, research on technologies independently, recommend appropriate solutions and contribute to technology-specific best practices and standards. You will provide inputs for identifying best-fit architectural solutions for one or more projects; develop design of applications, provide regular support and guidance to project teams on complex coding and issue resolution with the objective of ensuring best-fit and high-quality technical solutions within the area of technology specialization and in compliance with guidelines, policies and norms of Infosys. Required Qualifications:
- Candidate must be located within commuting distance of Plano, TX or be willing to relocate to the area. This position may require travel within the US
- Bachelor s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education
- At least 7 years of experience with Information Technology
- Proven years of hands-on experience in Azure, Databricks, Azure Synapse Administration
- Provision, configure, and maintain Azure Synapse workspaces across Dev/Test/Prod.
Manage access, permissions, and workspace security using Azure RBAC, Synapse roles, and Managed Identities
- Configure and govern linked services, integration settings, workspace firewalls, and network security controls (Private Endpoints when applicable)
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and operational checklists
- Experience on Spark (Synapse Spark Pools / Apache Spark) Operations:
Administer Synapse Spark pools: sizing, autoscale, auto-pause, libraries, spark configs, and session management.
Troubleshoot Spark job failures: executor/memory issues, shuffle, skew, timeouts, cluster resource bottlenecks.
Optimize Spark workloads using partitioning, caching strategy, broadcast joins, and file formats (Parquet/Delta where applicable).
Manage Spark libraries, dependency conflicts, version control, and environment stability
- Experience on Synapse SQL Pools (Dedicated + Serverless):
Administer Dedicated SQL pools (formerly SQL DW): workload management, distribution strategies, partitions, materialized views, indexing (where applicable).
Support Serverless SQL: external tables, views, performance patterns, and query tuning.
Handle backup/restore strategy and DR readiness for Synapse components as per project needs.
Monitor DWU usage, concurrency, query performance, and implement cost controls
