Overview
DecisionPoint seeks a Release Manager to support enterprise-scale Agile DevSecOps operations as part of a cybersecurity-focused Scrum team. The Release Manager will oversee planning, coordination, and delivery of secure releases across multiple environments, ensuring each deployment aligns with DoD cybersecurity controls, RMF requirements, and IL4/IL5 operational readiness.
This role requires close collaboration with system engineers, developers, cybersecurity analysts, and configuration managers to maintain consistent release quality, traceability, and compliance throughout the software lifecycle.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Release Manager will:
- Serve as a key member of the cybersecurity Scrum team, coordinating releases that integrate security, compliance, and functional updates across multiple IL environments.
- Plan and manage release schedules, ensuring alignment with Agile sprint and Program Increment (PI) objectives.
- Oversee change control and configuration management processes in collaboration with cybersecurity and DevSecOps teams.
- Ensure all builds, releases, and patches undergo security scanning, validation, and approval prior to production deployment.
- Manage the Release Readiness Review (RRR) process, coordinating across development, cybersecurity, and operations stakeholders.
- Maintain release documentation, including deployment plans, rollback procedures, and change logs.
- Support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) activities using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to verify RMF compliance, DISA STIG adherence, and vulnerability remediation prior to release.
- Track release metrics, including defect density, test completion, and deployment success rates, to ensure continuous improvement.
- Facilitate release retrospectives to identify process improvements and implement lessons learned.
- Coordinate deployment windows, environment baselines, and artifact promotion across development, test, and production tiers.
- Support incident response and post-release analysis, ensuring quick resolution of issues and accurate root-cause documentation.
- Maintain awareness of emerging DevSecOps automation and release governance tools to improve deployment velocity and control.
Clearance Requirement:
- Must hold an active Top Secret clearance.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing software releases, deployments, or configuration management activities within DoD or federal IT environments.
- Experience supporting DevSecOps, Agile, or Continuous Delivery pipelines.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity release and accreditation processes, including RMF and ATO sustainment.
Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in release and deployment automation tools (GitLab, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, or Azure DevOps).
- Experience managing releases across IL4/IL5 or other secure cloud environments.
- Understanding of configuration management principles, including version control and artifact traceability.
- Knowledge of DISA STIGs, RMF controls, and Zero Trust architecture.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and containerized application deployment.
- Experience using JIRA or equivalent Agile management tools for sprint and backlog coordination.
Certifications (Preferred):
- CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8570 certification.
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional or AWS Solutions Architect.
- ITIL Foundation or SAFe Agile certification.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and communication skills for coordinating complex release activities.
- Ability to manage multiple parallel releases across diverse technical environments.
- Attention to detail and commitment to compliance and documentation accuracy.
