Job DescriptionIT Manager, Computing Infrastructure AutomationJOB SUMMARY: The Computing Infrastructure Automation (CIA) Manager leads the Computing Services' (CS) automation and orchestration transformation toward the delivery and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code. This role will focus on automating the provisioning and management of servers, storage, middleware, platforms, and networking across VMware, OpenShift, and physical environments, improving efficiency, scalability, and reliability. The CIA department collaborates and coordinates among entities inside and outside of Computing Services to provide an end-to-end developer/portfolio infrastructure delivery experience. This department will lead Computing Services as part of broader enterprise DevOps efforts. The CIA also provides coding services to other CS departments including Enterprise Storage, Virtualization Infrastructure, Linux Support, Windows Support, Infrastructure Integration, Platform Support, and Computing Security and Compliance. The CIA will lead with the automation of, and orchestration among, various tasks. The CIA assists CS departments in understanding our coding standards, repository conventions, and assists with coding as needed. The CIA will lead CS in AI adoption as priorities allow.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: - BS/BA in Computer Science or MIS is desired or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of automation technologies and processes
- Basic knowledge of security policies
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
- Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation and OpenShift
- Experience with source code control systems in enterprise environments
- Demonstrate strong communication and influence skills to encourage adoption of automation standards
- Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on commitments
- Ability to negotiate with and influence others - internally as well as vendors

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Hires, develops, rewards, and retains a highly qualified and diverse leadership team.
- Oversee the automation of provisioning and lifecycle management of VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, bare-metal servers, and other computing infrastructure
- Budget management
- Continuously monitors and evaluates the operating model and supporting organizational design to identify efficiencies and synergies and ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Oversee the development of scripts, workflows, and playbooks for storage provisioning, SAN/NAS automation, and backup integration
- Oversee the automation of network device configuration and monitoring using tools like Ansible, Python, or vendor APIs
- Oversee the implementation and management of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) for OS and middleware automation
- Acts as a student of the business and technology, anticipating futures needs and directional shifts in both technology and energy industries.
- Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships and partnerships with senior leadership throughout the enterprise, industry peers and groups, external vendors, and suppliers.
- Develop, document, and maintain enterprise-wide standards for automation practices and tools
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand diverse automation needs and advocate for unified solutions
- Provide guidance and training to peers on effective branching strategies, versioning, and code review processes
- Participate in departmental initiatives
- Communicate progress, problems and best practices to management, leads and teammates
