Wireless Network Technician

Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the day-to-day support, operation and maintenance of the NU wireless network including, troubleshooting problems; assisting with installation of components, design of building layouts, implementation plans and site surveys; Develop and maintain wireless networking documentation and procedures. Provide assistance and support with projects related to the campus network.

This position will uphold the ITS core principles of outstanding collaboration and communication, a drive to succeed, a passion for higher learning, and acting with integrity.

Required Qualifications:

Two years post-secondary coursework

2 years working in a medium/large multi-site production networking environment

Proven computer diagnostic skills

Experience with setup, configuration, and operation of Windows & MAC operating systems

General knowledge and experience with Ethernet networking concepts

General knowledge of various 802.11 wireless technologies (802.11N, 802.11ac, 802.1ax, Bluetooth, etc.)

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Equivalent combination of education and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with computer security issues

Experience with AAA servers, Radius and authentication

Knowledge of DNS/DHCP functions and structure

Experience with site survey software and proper survey technique

CWNP wireless certifications - CWS or higher
