SR IT SYSTEMS DBA

The role involves monitoring and responding to technical database problems using diagnostic testing tools and techniques, as well as assisting in managing overall database capacity. The candidate may interface with vendor support service groups or other external support teams to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.

Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain documentation such as systems requirements, designs, resource inventories, and plans as requested by work unit leadership.
• Develop proposals that consider alternatives and business case gains needed for comprehensive institutional consideration.
• Work effectively across departmental organizations, gaining consensus from stakeholders.
• Consult and act as an information resource and mentor in a supportive role.
• Perform database performance analysis, create indexes, improve queries, analyze DB plans, and create and modify tables and stored procedures.
• Support database activities for go-lives of various web applications.

Requirements

• Expertise in MS SQL 2025 or previous, Postgres, Mongo DB, Big Query, and other SQL relational and non-relational databases.
• Ability to write and analyze complex queries that require extensive selects and joins.
• Proficiency in using SQL Server Management Studio, Datagrip from Jet Brains, SQL Sentry from Solar Winds tools to investigate and debug database issues.
