An AWS DevOps Engineer is needed to become the first dedicated infrastructure hire supporting a digital fundraising platform used by thousands of schools and libraries across the country. This fully remote role operates on Central Time hours and will own the reliability, security, and scalability of multiple revenue-generating applications that help educational organizations raise funds through literacy-focused programs.
The environment includes AWS, GitLab CI/CD, Aurora MySQL, PHP and Laravel applications, CloudFormation, Tailscale, and Cloudflare. This position will drive infrastructure modernization, security improvements, observability initiatives, containerization efforts, and incident response practices across a growing platform.
Required Skills & Experience - 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure experience
- Deep hands-on AWS experience
- AWS Organizations, IAM, EC2, Aurora MySQL (RDS), Application Load Balancers, and Auto Scaling Groups
- CloudFormation or Terraform
- Strong Linux systems administration experience
- GitLab CI/CD and secrets management experience
- Production incident response and root cause analysis experience
- Experience supporting PHP and Laravel applications
- Experience building infrastructure as code from scratch
Desired Skills & Experience - CDC or real-time replication tools such as Epsio or Debezium
- Tailscale or similar zero-trust networking platforms
- Payment processing or PCI-adjacent infrastructure experience
- Experience as a first dedicated DevOps hire
- Experience using AI-assisted coding or operations tools
- Ruby, Rails, C#, or .NET experience
What You Will Be Doing - Administer and secure a multi-account AWS environment
- Manage EC2 infrastructure, load balancing, and Auto Scaling
- Modernize legacy infrastructure through containerization initiatives
- Administer Aurora MySQL databases and replication strategies
- Manage networking, DNS, and access controls
- Build and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Implement secrets management best practices
- Enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability capabilities
- Lead incident response and root cause investigations
- Manage WAF policies, certificates, and overall infrastructure security
