This role serves as a key point of contact for API-related initiatives, ensuring integrations are well-documented, reliable, secure, and designed to support efficient pharmacy operations and a positive customer experience.

The individual will collaborate with external partners and internal teams across software engineering, quality assurance, project management, and operations to define requirements, resolve integration challenges, and deliver effective technical solutions. A major focus will be monitoring operational KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve performance, including faster prescription fulfillment, fewer escalations, and reduced manual intervention.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical and analytical skills with excellent communication, customer service, and project ownership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee pharmacy API integrations and continuously improve the experience for internal users, external pharmacy partners, and software implementation teams.
  • Consult with external customers and technology partners to provide guidance on API integration requirements, implementation, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date API documentation for external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, software engineers, QA, and operations teams to define integration designs, data requirements, and workflows.
  • Translate business needs into clear technical requirements and develop integration solutions that support customer and operational objectives.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot integration issues, identify system gaps, and recommend solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Evaluate proposed solutions for technical and operational feasibility, ensuring they meet business requirements.
  • Monitor integration performance and operational KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve prescription fulfillment speed, reduce escalations, and minimize manual processes.
  • Apply a strong understanding of software development principles and API technologies to connect systems across organizations.
  • Stay current with emerging API technologies, industry standards, and integration best practices.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing professional development, industry research, and participation in relevant professional networks.
  • Follow established security, privacy, and administrative safeguards when performing job responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements and applicable healthcare data protection standards.

Performance Expectations

Success in this role will be measured by the quality and accuracy of API documentation, effectiveness and reliability of integration solutions, and timely communication with external partners, vendors, business users, and internal IT teams. Additional performance measures include code resiliency, defect rates, integration stability, and improvements in operational efficiency.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a technology role supporting or maintaining multiple systems that communicate and exchange data.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a proactive approach to issue resolution and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
