Senior Economist - Economic Analysis to work

Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award. Role Overview: The Senior Economist will perform regulatory analysis of U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) propose rules, create benefit/cost models, competitive and other analyses prepare reports to the commission, perform consumer product market analysis, evaluate financial health of firms, provide expert testimony in court cases involving CPSC regulatory actions and conduct research to improve CPSC benefit/cost estimation methods.
Salary: $160,000

Required Skills Key Responsibilities: - Developing statistical/regression models that are robust and adhere to best practices.
- Conducting thorough, accurate, and useful data analyses.
- Providing high quality regulatory analysis services that are tailored to the needs of the Commission.
- Gathering and evaluating large amounts of consumer product data, and industry information for both public and private firms.
- Conducting statistical analyses of large data and machine learning to fully leverage the value of existing data.
- Providing detailed assessments of limitations/uncertainty associated with research performed.
- Reviewing and evaluating health and safety interventions for effectiveness.
- Performing technical interviews of subject matter experts, private industry executives, and government officials.
- Performing primary and secondary data collection and research.
- Managing large complex analytical projects concerning federal government regulations with a high level of uncertainty.
Desired Skills Desired Experience: - Professional Experience:
- 10+ years experience conducting cost-benefit analysis, state/federal regulatory evaluations, and economic analysis.
- 5+ years experience using best-practice cost estimating framework and tools.
- 3+ years experience reviewing medical expenditure data and medical survey data.
- 3+ years experience evaluating effectiveness of health/safety interventions.
- 3+ years experience estimating tangible and non-tangible non-fatal injury effects.
- 3+ years completing technical interviews
- 1+ years experience completing technical interviews of product industry experts.
- 1+ years experience reviewing mandatory/voluntary product standards.
- Technical Skills:
- 3+ years hands-on experience creating economic models with Python and Azure cloud.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience creating/using advanced MS Excel functions (e.g. arrays, financial, statistical, lookup).
- 2+ years experience with SQL for data manipulation and querying.
- Proficiency in dashboard visualization tools (Power BI or equivalent).
