SUMMARY:
The University is seeking a highly qualified application specialist (contract) to support the launch and operational transition of Ellucian's Smart Plan solution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with University advisors and subject matter experts to define the requirements for each program to be built into the Ellucian Smart Plan platform.
- Configure, test, review and update programs, ensuring that the solution is creating realistic plans for students that align with University policies and guidelines.
- Ensure seamless data exchange between Smart Plan and Degree Works (SIS)
- Train academic advisors and staff on how to use the tool to facilitate "what-if" analyses, including impact analysis on cost and time-to-degree.
- Identify and resolve application errors, bugs, and data anomalies prior to launch and during the post-launch hypercare period.
- Act as primary support contact during post launch hypercare period.
- Transition long term platform support to the University technical staff post launch.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Higher Education Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years in higher education IT, application support, or academic advising
- Proven experience with Ellucian Banner (SIS) and Ellucian Smart Plan
- Understanding of relational databases, and proficiency in SQL or similar reporting tools
- Deep understanding of academic advising, course scheduling, degree audit processes, and registrar functions
- Ability to interpret complex degree requirements and translate them into system rules
- Strong ability to explain technical processes to non-technical users (faculty, advisors)
