Summary

Role Business Analyst (Junior)
Location: Baltimore (hybrid)
We are seeking a business analyst to join our project team. You will work alongside other business analysts and report directly to the project manager. Your main tasks will include performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes, and performing some user acceptance testing. To succeed in this role, you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to nontechnical users.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering and Analysis: Work closely with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

  • Process Mapping and Modeling: Analyze and map current business processes, identify areas for improvement, and propose streamlined and optimized processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.

  • Functional Specifications: Develop detailed functional specifications and user stories, including use cases, business rules, and acceptance criteria, to communicate requirements to development teams.

  • Solution Design and Evaluation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, and testers to design solutions that meet business needs, ensuring feasibility and alignment with technical capabilities.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Conduct data analysis to extract insights and trends, create meaningful reports and dashboards, and provide actionable recommendations to support decision-making and strategic planning.

  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Plan, coordinate, and execute UAT activities, including test case creation, execution, and defect tracking, to ensure the quality and functionality of delivered solutions.

  • Change Management and Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders, manage expectations, and support change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of new processes and technologies including documentation.

  • Coordinating/collaborating with project management: Report to the Project Manager / PMO team and suggest tools.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least (3) years BA IT experience in working with Maryland State agencies. (i.e., designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining)

  • Exposure to tools like JIRA, TFS, DevOps, Confluence, or Trello for managing requirements and tasks.

  • Technical business analyst experiences managing several projects simultaneously. Understanding of how databases work and basic querying skills, Webservices or API works and UI Wireframes development.

  • Familiar with data analysis tools like SQL, Excel (advanced functions), or basic visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

  • Proficient in using Excel for data analysis, Word for documentation, and PowerPoint for presentations.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies through training or certification, such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM).

  • Experience in managing and execution of multiple related operational requests / projects simultaneously.

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Service Now is a plus.

  • Knowledge of State Government policies and practices.

  • Knowledge of Payment Portal implementation with FMIS Integration.
