Summary

Principal Electrical Engineer

Position Summary

The Principal Electrical Engineer serves as the top technical authority for electrical engineering across the organization''''s most complex products. This role drives high-impact design decisions that shape the technology roadmap, while mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across the team. The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on expertise in mixed-signal PCB design (analog and digital) along with a strong track record of taking products from concept through volume production — including a proven background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and direct execution of complex electrical engineering projects from concept through production
  • Lead hands-on design of analog, digital, and mixed-signal PCBs, including power supply, power electronics, timing/PLLs, and low-noise circuitry, that integrate successfully with electromechanical and software subsystems
  • Translate product requirements (PRDs) into detailed design specifications
  • Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Service teams to drive system architecture, specifications, and verification testing
  • Lead schematic and PCB design reviews to reduce production risk and catch issues before they become costly late-stage changes
  • Identify and close gaps in design-for-manufacturability, design-for-test, and design-for-serviceability practices to reduce lifecycle costs and improve yield
  • Create and maintain test protocols for design verification and validation; oversee execution, document results, and produce final test reports
  • Build and maintain a requirements-to-design-to-test traceability matrix for assigned projects
  • Collaborate with Product Management on system integration activities and usability studies
  • Prepare and lead technical and design review presentations
  • Set and uphold electrical engineering technical standards across projects; mentor and develop other engineers on the team

Required Qualifications

  • Significant hands-on experience taking electronic products from design through full-scale manufacturing (product experience is essential — this is not a research-only or early-stage-only role)
  • Demonstrated background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), with direct experience improving yield, reliability, and production efficiency through design changes
  • Strong, proven expertise in mixed-signal PCB design, spanning both analog and digital domains
  • Working knowledge of RF design principles
  • Proficiency with modern EDA/CAD tools for simulation, schematic capture, layout, and documentation
  • Experience contributing to firmware-adjacent hardware design (timing, PLLs, power electronics)
  • Experience building and maintaining requirements traceability across design, specification, and test
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills — comfortable working with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Service teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience leading formal technical and design reviews
  • Experience mentoring or coaching other engineers
