Data Center Technician

Title: Data Center Technician

Duration: 6 Months (Contract to Hire)

Location: Mesa, AZ 85201 (Onsite)

Pay Range: $24.39 - $26.39/Hr

Job Description:

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Rack installation


• Rack preparation


• Device scanning


• White glove service


• Vendor interactions and management


• Printing labels


• Using a computer, Excel, and Outlook for emails


• Project management and creating cut sheets for vendors


• Cabling work

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. If it is more than 40 Ibs they will perform or do group lifts or get assistance


• Safety shoes are required for this role. No steel-toe shoes are needed; they will set off the alarm and require the employee to remove them for security screening. Only composite shoes are allowed.


• HM is checking if they may reimburse safety shoe expenses. He will get back on this!

Daily Schedule:

• 12 hours, 6 am to 6 pm or 6 pm to 6 am, on the front half (Sun, Mon, Tues/Wed) or back half (Wed/Thurs, Fri, Sat).

Reason for Openings:

• Increased workload, opening of new data centers.


• Also, current staffing shortage within the small team.

Project Mission - Build new data centers:

• Assist with rack delivery and installation in new data centers.


• PHX53 - DC is established - need racks moved to various locations.


• PHX56 - new DC - needs racks added to data halls.

Must-Haves:

• Cabling experience and server rack intake experience


• 1+ year of data center experience


• Fiber optic and copper cabling, testing equipment, and troubleshooting skills


• Ability to install, test, inventory, and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, including patch panels and patch cords


• Open to candidates with an Associate degree in Information Technology and 6 months of DC experience


• Military/army/marines background considered if relevant to cabling, server racks, or fiber optic environments


• Personal service and vendor management skills.

Nice to Have:

• Linux troubleshooting


• TCP/IP networks


• Network A+ certification
