Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Code Management Administrator to join a high-performing DevOps and automation team in the middle of a significant infrastructure modernization effort. This role is central to migrating the organization's automation ecosystem away from legacy tools Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Automic toward GitLab, Ansible Automation Platform, and Terraform.

You'll lead and execute strategic migrations, optimize CI/CD workflows, and ensure pipelines are robust, scalable, and secure. Day-to-day, you'll configure and harden GitLab at enterprise scale, partner with application teams on onboarding, and build the automation frameworks that keep everything running reliably. This is a hands-on role with real ownership and visibility including 24/7 on-call responsibility.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of enterprise tool administration, deep GitLab expertise, and the communication skills to collaborate across engineering, security, and DevOps teams effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute strategic migrations from legacy tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Automic) to GitLab, Ansible Automation Platform, and Terraform
  • Configure and manage GitLab Runners, Groups, Projects, and Permissions at scale
  • Harden GitLab for enterprise usage including SAML/SSO, LDAP, RBAC, and backup/restore
  • Design, implement, and optimize complex GitLab CI/CD pipelines using YAML best practices
  • Leverage Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools to provision and manage self-hosted GitLab and runners
  • Implement GitOps practices to manage infrastructure and environment configurations
  • Automate operational tasks and incident remediation via pipelines and scripts
  • Partner with application teams to onboard them onto GitLab workflows and best practices
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, wiki pages, and pipeline templates
  • Integrate monitoring tools (PrometheGrafana, ELK) for GitLab health and pipeline performance
  • Implement policies and guardrails to ensure code quality, compliance, and security posture
  • Troubleshoot and resolve CI/CD and migration-related incidents in a timely manner
  • Available for 24/7 on-call support as required

Required Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years of experience administering complex enterprise applications and tools
  • Experience administering GitLab, Artifactory, Xray, and SonarQube
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform and Ansible
  • Solid understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and IBM Cloud
  • Knowledge of JFrog Artifactory, BitBucket/Git, SVN, and other SCM tools
  • Working knowledge of SDLC methodologies and release engineering tools (Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Bamboo, Maven, Ant)
  • Strong cross-team collaboration and communication skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • GitLab Certified Administrator
  • Prior experience with build management, configuration management, and/or quality testing
  • Experience with Agile, CI, and CD practices
  • Background supporting large-scale enterprise migrations or modernization efforts

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred; equivalent experience with strong scripting/programming skills considered
