Job Description

Company: PCC Structurals
Location: SSBO
Department: Facilities Engineering
Reports To: Facilities Manager

Position Summary

We are looking for a Controls Engineer who is energized by solving problems, learning new technologies, and supporting the people who keep manufacturing operations running. The ideal candidate is someone with a solid foundation in industrial automation and controls, but more importantly, someone who brings curiosity, accountability, and a positive attitude to work every day.

This position is part of the Facilities Engineering team and plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations within a heavy industrial environment. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel to improve equipment reliability, resolve technical issues, and implement automation and process improvements.

We are prepared to invest in candidates who demonstrate strong potential, a commitment to growth, and a desire to become a technical leader within our organization. While knowledge of PLCs, PID control systems, instrumentation, and industrial automation is important, we place significant value on attitude, initiative, teamwork, and a willingness to continuously learn and improve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting and resolving controls, automation, and process-related issues.
  • Partners with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Assist with programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based control systems.
  • Support setup, tuning, and optimization of PID control loops and other process control systems.
  • Diagnose issues involving instrumentation, sensors, drives, HMIs, networking, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action efforts related to equipment downtime or process disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain controls documentation, standards, drawings, and procedures.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new system installations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, equipment uptime, and process consistency.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined in CFR 120.62
  • Fundamental understanding of industrial control systems and automation principles.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, instrumentation, and process control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control systems, instrumentation, and process automation equipment.
  • Exposure to SCADA systems, industrial networking, or manufacturing data systems.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, foundry, metals, aerospace, or other heavy industrial operations.
  • Experience managing or supporting controls-related projects from concept through implementation.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To comply with those regulations, this position may require applicants to be U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
