Network Engineer

Title – Network Engineer

Location: Washington, DC
Duration: 6 months
Pay: $67/hr (W2)
Clearance: Public Trust (must currently hold) — Required

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain complex enterprise networks.
• Manage Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Implement OSPF, BGP, VLANs, QoS, IPSec.
• Use Nagios for monitoring and alerts.
• Use Cisco Prime for configuration management and automation.
• Manage Cisco ISE for access control and AAA.
• Build Splunk dashboards for network events and analysis.
• Troubleshoot incidents and ensure high network availability.
• Maintain documentation and optimize network performance.
• Automate routine network tasks (scripting/monitoring/backups).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years enterprise network engineering experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with:
• Nagios, Cisco Prime, Cisco ISE, Splunk
• Cisco routers/switches/firewalls
• Networking protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLANs, QoS, IPSec)
• Scripting (Python, Bash) for automation.
• Expertise in network security (ACLs, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
• Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers.

Desirable Skills

• Cloud networking (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform).
• SD‑WAN & automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• ITIL knowledge.

Certifications

• CCNP (minimum); CCIE preferred.
• Splunk or Network+ certifications are a plus.
