Postgre SQL Developer- Azure Migration

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled PostgreSQL DBA with hands-on experience in managing PostgreSQL databases and executing migrations from on-premises environments to Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, security, and cloud migration initiatives leveraging Azure Database for PostgreSQL services.

Key Responsibilities

PostgreSQL Administration

Install, configure, upgrade, and administer PostgreSQL databases.
Monitor database performance, health, and availability.
Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Perform database patching and version upgrades.
Troubleshoot database issues and ensure optimal performance.
Azure Migration & Cloud Adoption

Assess existing PostgreSQL environments for Azure migration readiness.
Plan and execute migrations to:
Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server
PostgreSQL on Azure Virtual Machines
Utilize migration tools such as:
Azure Database Migration Service (DMS)
pg_dump / pg_restore
Logical & Physical Replication
Validate migrated databases and ensure data integrity.
Optimize cloud database performance and costs.
Performance Tuning

Analyze slow-running queries and optimize execution plans.
Index tuning and maintenance.
Database capacity planning and storage optimization.
Implement partitioning and performance enhancement techniques.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery

Configure and manage:
Streaming Replication
Logical Replication
Failover mechanisms
Backup and recovery solutions
Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
Security & Compliance

Implement database security policies and access controls.
Manage user roles, privileges, and authentication mechanisms.
Perform security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Required Skills

Strong experience with PostgreSQL 11/12/13/14/15/16.
Hands-on experience in On-Prem PostgreSQL to Azure migration projects.
Proficiency in:
Database Backup & Recovery
Query Optimization
Performance Tuning
Replication & HA
Database Security
Experience with:
Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server
Azure Virtual Machines
Azure Storage
Azure Monitor
Azure Database Migration Service (DMS)
Good understanding of Linux administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
Preferred Skills

Azure Certifications (AZ-104, DP-300).
Experience with PostgreSQL automation and scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell).
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM Templates).
Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift and PostgreSQL deployments.
Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Familiarity with tools such as PgAdmin, pgBouncer, Patroni, WAL-G.
Qualifications

Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Relevant PostgreSQL and Azure certifications preferred.
