Our direct client is a fast-growing, well-established high-tech manufacturing firm, is looking to employ AI solutions to improve efficiencies in a number of areas of the business, i.e. manufacturing workflows, supply chain optimization, and others. We seek an experienced software engineer with AI / ML experience to join their team on a full-time basis. This is an onsite position at the company s office near Shelton, CT.
Position Summary
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing intelligent algorithms and systems that simulate human reasoning and behavior. This role involves working with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to build AI models and integrate them into scalable software solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong programming skills with a solid understanding of machine learning (ML), deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and other AI methodologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
AI & ML Model Development:
Design and implement machine learning models, deep learning networks, and AI algorithms tailored to specific business needs.
Develop prototypes and scale models for production environments.
Data Handling and Preprocessing:
Clean, preprocess, and analyze structured and unstructured data.
Select appropriate datasets and data representation methods.
Software Development:
Write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code in languages such as Python, C++, Java, or others relevant to AI projects.
Integrate AI models into existing platforms and products through APIs or SDKs.
Research and Innovation:
Stay updated on the latest developments in AI research and tools.
Contribute to the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and best practices within the organization.
Model Evaluation and Optimization:
Test and validate models for accuracy, performance, and robustness.
Tune hyperparameters and optimize algorithms for real-world applications.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work with product managers, engineers, and domain experts to translate business problems into AI solutions.
Communicate findings and project updates to stakeholders.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of code, models, and workflows.
Report on project progress, challenges, and outcomes.
Education and Experience Desired:
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field.
Master s or Ph.D. preferred for roles involving advanced research or academic partnership.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in AI programming, software development, or related roles.
Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-learn.
Experience with cloud-based AI services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
Demonstrated experience in deploying models into production environments.
Strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI (Python, R, Java, C++).
Experience with NLP, computer vision, or reinforcement learning.
Familiarity with MLOps tools (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, Docker).
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
