Data Center Technician I and II - Job Description We are hiring multiple
Data Center Technicians to join a leading global technology company. We are seeking highly motivated, technically proficient candidates with a strong foundation in IT-whether gained through professional experience, academic study, or military service.
In this role, you will serve as a primary resolver for your support team, responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and infrastructure issues. You will contribute to knowledge sharing within the team, operate with a high level of autonomy, and demonstrate strong attention to detail. You work well in a collaborative environment, receive feedback constructively, and consistently uphold operational excellence standards.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex server hardware issues
- Perform hardware installations, replacements, and repairs
- Maintain a high level of accuracy when following technical instructions and processes
- Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and support troubleshooting efforts
- Manage workload and priorities through ticketing and documentation systems
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and operational protocols
- Work independently to identify and resolve system issues across supported equipment
Basic Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience in data center operations or a related technical field
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and TCP/IP
- Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting server hardware
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Linux operating systems
- Associate degree in an IT-related field, or equivalent professional/military experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with server hardware
- Experience working with ticketing systems
- Understanding of storage devices and related technologies
Technical Skills- Proficiency in performing hardware replacements and repairs
- Knowledge of cooling systems, airflow, and power distribution fundamentals
- Basic Linux/Unix command-line experience
- Familiarity with ticketing and documentation systems
- Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting (link checks, cabling, connectivity)
- Experience with:
- Linux
- VMware
- Windows Server
- General server administration
Physical Environment & Safety Requirements- Daily passage through metal detection screening
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights
- Comfortable working in confined spaces when required
- Ability to work in environments with temperature variability
- Exposure to environmental allergens such as dust and airborne particles
- Must adhere to all safety and security protocols, including restricted-area access procedures
Experience LevelMid-level technician with foundational IT knowledge and hands-on data center or hardware support experience.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Boardman, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
