Job Title: Technical Product Owner (Enterprise Integrations)

Requirement

We have an immediate need for two Contract-to-Hire Technical Product Owners supporting Thrivent's Enterprise Integration Services organization. These roles sit at the intersection of product, engineering, and business and will support critical initiatives across banking, transactions, wealth management, and mutual funds.

What they're looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Manager, or Senior Product Owner in a highly technical environment.
  • Strong experience with APIs, enterprise integrations, and data flows.
  • Exposure to event-driven architecture and messaging technologies (Kafka experience is a plus).
  • Experience within financial services, banking, payments, transactions, wealth management, or mutual funds.
  • Ability to partner closely with engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to identifying risks and driving solutions.
  • Strong Agile experience, including backlog management, user stories, sprint planning, and stakeholder management.

What You'll Do

  • Own and prioritize product backlogs for enterprise integration initiatives.
  • Partner closely with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Lead discussions around APIs, integrations, event streams, and data flows.
  • Gather, refine, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Ask thoughtful questions that uncover the underlying business need not just the stated request.
  • Clearly articulate the "what" and the "why" behind product decisions.
  • Proactively identify blockers, dependencies, and risks, communicating updates early and often.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between technical teams and business partners.
  • Drive roadmap execution and product delivery in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, or Product Manager in a technical environment.
  • Experience supporting API-driven products, enterprise integrations, or distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of modern integration concepts, including:
  • REST APIs
  • Event-driven architectures
  • Kafka or messaging platforms
  • Data movement and system integrations
  • Experience working in financial services, banking, payments, transactions, or investment platforms.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proven ability to proactively manage projects, surface issues, and drive outcomes.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Previous experience in fintech, banking, wealth management, or mutual funds.
  • Technical background in software engineering, systems analysis, or architecture.
  • Experience working with GitHub, Jira, and Aha!.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based integration platforms and enterprise systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable creating presentations and business materials using PowerPoint and Excel.
