Structural Engineer, Building Design Consulting
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000 to $140,000 per year
Design schools, shopping centers, and commercial buildings across Greater Pittsburgh at a growing consulting firm where senior engineers mentor you and you help lead others.
Must-Haves
- Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural concentration
- EIT certification, with a PE license or ability to obtain one in a reasonable timeframe
- Strong knowledge of building codes and structural design standards
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication with clients and project teams
What You\'ll Do
- Design structural systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential projects
- Perform analysis and calculations for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures
- Develop practical, economical, and innovative design solutions
- Coordinate with architects and MEP, civil, and geotechnical engineers
- Direct CAD and Revit designers on construction documents
- Review drawings for quality and completeness before submission
- Conduct site visits and field observations
- Respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and support construction administration
- Manage multiple projects, schedules, and budgets
- Mentor and guide junior team members
Nice-to-Haves
- 3+ years of structural engineering experience in a consulting firm
- PE license
- RAM Structural System / RAM Steel, ENERCALC, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, and Revit
- Code knowledge including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NDS, and TMS
- Construction administration experience
