Senior Data Architect

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Data Architect with deep expertise in SQL and Azure-based data platforms to support a large-scale data cleanup and migration initiative within a financial services environment. This contractor will play a critical role in assessing, rationalizing, and restructuring existing MS SQL and Azure SQL data assets in preparation for migration to a modern cloud data platform, likely Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the analysis, cleanup, and optimization of MS SQL Server and Azure SQL databases to ensure data quality, consistency, and readiness for migration.
• Design and implement data architecture and migration strategies to move structured data from Azure-based SQL platforms to Snowflake.
• Identify and remediate data quality issues, including duplication, inconsistencies, and inefficient schema designs.
• Ensure data architecture aligns with financial services standards, governance, and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• 10 15 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
• Strong senior-level SQL expertise, including complex query optimization and schema design.
• Extensive experience working in an Azure environment, including MS SQL Server and Azure SQL.
• Proven experience cleaning, restructuring, and preparing enterprise data for platform migration.
• Hands-on experience migrating data to Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.
• Financial services industry background
